Clinton: A Sure Democratic Win; Obama: Not So Sure

Latest polling released from Quinnipiac from critical November swing states shows who is the clear favorite: Sen. Hillary Clinton.  Here are the results:

Florida
Clinton defeats McCain by 8%
Obama loses to McCain by 1%

Ohio
Clinton defeats McCain by 10%
Obama loses to McCain by 1%

Pennsylvania
Clinton wins by 14%
Obama wins by 9%

Overall, it appears Obama can carry Pennsylvania, but that still just puts Democrats where we were 4 and 8 years ago. Democrats must win either Ohio or Florida (I'd like to see us win both) to win the White House.  Sen. Clinton can do that. Obama seems to be having problems.

The point is this: Do Democrats want to nominate a candidate who can't win?  Or would they rather nominate a candidate who has clear strength in the crucial swing states?  If I were a superdelegate, the choice would be clear --- nominate the winner.

Honestly.... With the biggest block of democratic voters being African-Americans, do you HONESTLY think Hillary Clinton can win ANY state in November if the African-American supporters believe that the DNC gave the nomination to Hillary Rodham Clinton over Barack Obama if he carried the most pledged delegates, the most states won and the most popular vote?

We're not talking current polls of IF a candidate was that party's candidate, assuming they WON the nomination, but considering HOW that candidate got the nomination.

A "Sure Democratic Win"? Wait until the MSM starts playing the same game against Hillary as they have with Obama? Jeremiah Wright? Renko? There's afew names waiting in the wings in the off-chance that Clinton is the nominee. Try these on for size and watch the MSM play THEM ad nauseum between the conventions and November. Remember Webster Hubbell? How about Marc Rich? Frank Giustra? How about Hillary's own brothers? (Hugh and Tony Rodham once defied Bill Clinton’s own top foreign policy advisers by entering into a strange investment in hazelnuts in the former Soviet republic of Georgia (they later dropped the deal) and Hugh Rodham took large cash payments for trying to broker presidential pardons.)Google paul vs. Clinton
Do you think the MSM wouldn't LOVE to have Hillary as the democratic candidate? Do you think it's coincidental that the corporate-owned media outlets are fighting so hard to keep Clinton's hopes alive?

Glad to have politidose back. Who said anything about the DNC giving the nomination to Clinton? Polls are polls, people can use their own judgement about what the Polls say.

Mary,
At this point, that's the only way that Clinton can be the nominee. Obama has already won the majority of states. There's no way Clinton can catch him in delegates won or popular vote. The only way she faces McCain in November is if the super delegates overturn the will of the people, which is also highly unlikely. The only thing Clinton is doing is feeding her own ego and hurting the Democratic party.

Anonymous, at this point Obama has won only one more primary state that Clinton. Its possible that by the end of Tuesday she could be ahead in primary states won. There is a way Clinton can catch Obama in the popular vote, it may be an outside chance but remember a decision still has to be made concerning Florida and Michigan. I do not share your thought that the democratic party is being hurt by Clinton being in the race.

It's almost laughable hearing the Clinton camp talk about letting every vote count but then in the next breath decide that state caucuses shouldn't. Of course, in Clinton's eyes, states that openly defied the party's rules should have their illegitimate results counted but states that require the most organizational skills shouldn't. BTW, I haven't heard Hillary say anything about all of the black and poor voters who have now been denied the chance to vote in Indiana because of the Supreme Kangaroo Court upholding picture ID requirements in Indiana. Welcome back Jim Crowe!!

Polls are a curious thing. What's "Sure" or "not so sure" one week can reverse the next!!

..........

(CBS) Democrat Barack Obama appears to have rebounded from some of the damage caused by the controversy surrounding his former pastor Rev. Jeremiah Wright, according to the latest CBS News/New York Times poll.

On one key measure, Obama has seen a big reversal since his denunciation of Wright’s remarks on Tuesday. He now leads presumptive Republican nominee John McCain in the hypothetical fall contest by eleven points, 51 percent to 40 percent. That compares to a tied match-up in a CBS News/New York Times poll that was released last Wednesday.

Positive assessments of how Obama has handled the situation with Wright are also reflected by a continued lead over fellow Democrat Hillary Clinton in his battle for their party’s nomination. Among Democratic primary voters (those who have voted or plan to vote in a Democratic primary) Obama’s lead over Clinton has increased -- he now leads Clinton by twelve points, 50 percent to 38 percent. That’s up from his eight point lead in the poll released just a few days ago....
