On November 3, 2026, the American voters went to the polls, cast their ballots in record numbers, voted democratic to give the party control of both houses of congress beginning in January for the next two years. It was a landslide victory for the democratic party and a big time rejection of President Trump and his party in congress.
The people's vote was also a rejection of the conservative media's support for the President and his party's failed policies along with the conservative opinion writers who supported them at every turn. The magnitude of Trump and his party's loss sent a clear message. Politics and the people's business should be above personal attacks, vulgar rhetoric, corruption, division, chaos, blame, attacking the constitution, the rule of law and being hateful to others.
In January 2027, the democratic party will have an opportunity to bring back civility and sanity to congress, govern with ethics and accept their responsibility as required by the constitution and not be a rubber stamp for any President. Their priority should always be the country and it's people's needs. There are no magic tricks to governing the political highway. It is rolling up your sleeve and getting to work for the country and it's people.
One can be sure that the negative voices in the media, Trump, the GOP and those who walk in the shoes of Elon Musk will begin their negative attacks against the new congress even before they take office. We know that because that is what they did to President Joe Biden's administration. It was all predicted in PolitiDose commentary at the time which can still be read on-line. The voters would do well by tuning out those negative voices and just follow what the new democratic controlled congress does. They then can judge for themselves.
There will be things that Trump himself can do as President that falls outside the authority of congress, but the congress does have the power to act if the President does something illegal or unlawful. The huge democratic vote on November 3, made it clear, the people see Trump and his party as a failure at governing and that the democratic party will do a better job. History and precedent tell this writer that is a fact backed up by the numbers.
