Elon Musk's SpaceX and AI's Data Center projects in Louisiana really need or deserve Corporate Welfare in the form of tax breaks and other perks in order to build and operate those facilities to return a decent profit? If that is so, it indicates they built a business project that could not stand on the merits of its purpose.
Those wealthy companies just use their business ventures to bribe state and local officials with promises of jobs and other goodies to extract tax breaks and other perks at the expense of the people. And elected officials not only fall for that fairy tale, they agree to enter into NDA contracts so the voting public will never know what the state is given away.
Doing business with Elon Musk is like doing business with the devil and Louisiana Governor Jeff Landry, like the Trump ditto head that he is, likes doing business with Musk. Neither one of those projects will be friendly to the environment or the well being of the state and its people. The unemployment rate in Louisiana in December 2023, the last full month of Governor J.B. Edwards term in office was 4%. The unemployment rate in Louisiana for August 2026 was 4.2% after 32 months on Landry's watch.
In other words after 32 months in office, Landry's job creation record is not so good. He sees SpaceX and the Data Centers as his savior. Corporate greed will never be satisfied and the facts tell the story. Landry loves the spotlight the media has shined on him, but he has a big problem, he puts the business community first. And that really says it all.
