The Jindal Pledge For Louisiana: No New Taxes Or Increase In Taxes. YEAH RIGHT.

Many past commentaries by this writer here in PolitiDose pointed out how the republican's ditto head pledge of no new taxes gets into the pocket of the average citizen 100 different ways.  Just two of those many ways was highlighted recently.

The expiration of the tolls on the GNO bridge along with legislation that was passed and signed into law by Jindal that would ban the use of toll money for the ferries should the bridge tolls be extended is a prime example of getting into the pockets of the average citizen.  In order to keep the ferries running the City Council in New Orleans approved a new fare schedule that will dramatically increase the charge to cross the Algiers-New Orleans ferry that will fall on the backs of the average citizen to use that service.

In a Times Picayune article dated 8/23/13 by Bruce Alpert concerning a speech given by President Obama about making college affordable it was pointed out that in the past 5 years state funding for higher education in Louisiana has been cut by almost $700 million and that 70% of funding now comes from tuition and fees.  The increases in tuition and fees for student is just one more example of how Jindal's policies has gotten into the pockets of the average citizen and at the same time Jindal preaches no new taxes.

Jindal's budget cuts in Louisiana represents that ditto head republican conservative ideology that pass the burden of those budget cuts to the average citizen to pay.  All the while businesses in Louisiana still enjoy the $7 Billion of tax exemptions with out having to worry about loosing their social and corporate welfare status.

Jindal and the republican controlled state legislature is no friend of the people of Louisiana.  The governor has spent so much time trying to create a national image for himself that his approval rating is less than 30% according to one of the latest polls.  The people of America have had its best days under democratic administrations and the people of Louisiana have had its best days under democratic administrations.  Some things never change.
