The Administration Of President Barack Obama Demonstrated Once Again That Democratic Administrations Are Best At Controlling Federal Spending.

The final numbers are in for President Obama's eight fiscal years which ended 9/30/17 and according to the Office of Management and Budget the percentage increase in total spending outlays were less compared to the percentage under the previous fiscal years of President George W. Bush.   And that confirms the administration that had the two smallest increases in total federal spending outlays in the last 45 years were the democratic administrations of Bill Clinton and Barack Obama.

Total spending outlays for Bush 43's eight fiscal years was $20.829 trillion  It was $29.080 trillion in Obama's eight fiscal years for a 40% increase in total federal spending outlays.  Total spending outlays for Clinton's eight fiscal years (preceding Bush 43) was $13.145 Trillion.  So total federal spending outlays in President Bush 43 fiscal years as shown above increased 58% over Clinton's eight fiscal years.

The big spender was President Ronald Reagan when you compare his eight fiscal years to the previous eight fiscal years of President Carter and Nixon-Ford (that is Carters first and only four years and Nixon-Ford last four years.  Total federal spending outlays under the eight years of Carter-Nixon-Ford was $3.614 trillion.  Under Reagan's eight fiscal years it was $7.554 trillion, a whopping 109% increase in total federal spending outlays.  And this is the President the republicans still say cut federal spending.  Yeah right.

When we compare federal spending in President Clinton's eight fiscal years to the previous eight fiscal years of President George H. W. Bush 41 and Ronald Reagan (four years under George H.W. Bush 41 and the last four years of Reagan) the answer is.  Under the eight fiscal years of the Bush 41-Reagan administrations total federal spending outlays totaled $9.570 trillion.  Under the eight fiscal years of President Clinton federal spending outlays totaled $13.145 trillion for an increase of 37%.

It should also be noted that under the Obama administration, year to year total spending outlays were less than the previous year three times for fiscal years ending 9/30/2010, 9/30/2012 and 9/30/2013.  The first time that has happened since 1955 according to the Office of Management and Budget.  As this writer commented many times in past PolitiDose articles, the republicans claim of being the fiscal conservative party is pure myth and the numbers prove it.

The Reagan administration was the first to break the trillion dollar spending mark in fiscal year ending 9/30/1987.  It took 14 years to reach the 2 trillion spending mark by the Bush 43 administration in fiscal year ending 9/30/2002 and it took Bush 43 only 7 years to reach the 3 trillion dollar spending mark in fiscal year ending 9/30/2009.  And we know that Trump's proposed budget for fiscal year ending 9/30/19 is projected to reach the 4.4 trillion dollar mark.  This writer believes the federal government will actually reach the 4 trillion dollar spending mark at the end of Trump's first fiscal year which ends 9/30/2018.

The people were sold a fairy tale concerning republican conservatism and being best at handling the federal government's fiscal house and finances and the news media ran with the rhetoric, but the readers of PolitiDose know the true story.  Conservative republican Presidents?  They have not existed since President Dwight Eisenhower who was the last republican President to balance the federal budget in 1960.

Stay tuned for the fiscal disaster that will take pace on President Trump's watch.  And when it happens, you will have read it here first in PolitiDose, your daily dose of political commentary.

Has Trump's Supporters Given Up On The Social Media and He ?

During the Presidential campaign of 2016 and most of 2017 supporters of Donald Trump made comments over my Facebook page almost endlessly bragging how much he would accomplish as President and reporting all the fake news sponsored by Trump, the Clinton haters and Russian operatives who were willing to spread all the lies to damage her  Trump was a moral man according to so many comments.

But now after a full year of the trumpet man in office, Trump's supporters have gone silent with very little to say  Its like they don't even exist anymore.  In fact, for some reason PJ's coffee seems to get all the social comments which is a real departure from the past.  I'm not please with that since I do not like or drink flavored coffee.  I'll take good old cafĂ© de monde any day.

I can understand the lack of commentary from Trump's supporters over the social networks since he has so few accomplishments, low approval rating and a federal investigation at his door step.  And of course the management skills he bragged about are non existent in the political world he lives in now.  The real problem with social media can be traced to those who continue to try and pass off opinions and fake news as facts, and talk radio is the worse of them all and in New Orleans WWL talk radio is just a big joke with a few exceptions.

It is nice once again to open Facebook and hear down to earth comments void of political content.  As for this writer, I have never started a political comment on Facebook, but I have replied to political comment that comes across my Facebook page.  My political thoughts and comments are recorded here in PolitiDose, your daily dose of political commentary.

America: Already Feeling The Effects Of The EPA's Lack Of Enforcement

Bloomberg news reports that the non-partisan Environmental Integrity Project found that the EPA has collected roughly half as much in civil penalties from polluters  during President Trump's first year in office than it did under the  three past Presidents in the same time frame according to their research.

Head of the "Project" is Eric Schaeffer who was a former director of the EPA's Office of Civil Enforcement, said the decline sends the wrong signal to would be polluters, and that coupled with cuts to the EPA may reduce their ability to pursue violators.  Also President Trumps dismantling of the EPA means violators are less likely to be caught.

The "Project" also found that Trump's EPA settled roughly 44 percent fewer civil cases involving violations of environmental laws.  Penalties collected totaled 49% of the average of the three previous Presidents first year in office.  And this is what has taken place in Trumps first year in office  What about the next 3 years if Trump is still around?  The situation will just compound and become worse reversing all the good that has been accomplished before the arrival of the trumpet man.

And for those who may not be following politics, Trump is getting ready to do the same to the banking industry by removing the safe guards put in place by the Dodd-Frank legislation, ignoring other bank regulations and approving the wholesale merger of the banks.  This action will lead to another great recession that will have its roots in Trump's actions.

There are two ways to deregulation.  Change the regulations or simply stop enforcement of them.  Both Reagan and Bush 43 did that and now Trump is the third ditto head to do so.  As for the American people and the country, the warning of what to come could not be any clearer.

President Donald Trump: Incapable Of Being a Statesman Even When Tragedy Strikes

At a time of tragedy,  America needs a President to be a statesman, a calming voice, someone to lean on, some one who understands sorrow, some one who has understanding, some one who has feeling, some one who can speak from the heart and most of all some one to lead.  The recent tragedy at a Parkland, Florida high school and Trump's reaction, especially his so called "meeting of listening" with students, family members and others, Trump demonstrated he had none of the above qualities and is truly corrupted to the core.

The President had to depend on a hand written notes to talk about the tragedy and exhibited no natural responses that come from the heart.  The President's notion that school teachers should be armed to protect their students showed how little Trump knows about the gun problem in the country.  More guns in school are a prescription for more violence and would make our institutions of learning a combat zone on a regular basis.  School teachers jobs are to teach, not be policemen or guards  It is another example of Trump's disrespect for our institutions.

And to top it off, the ignorance of this President's obligations, he has yet to talk seriously about banning assault style weapons like the one used in the Florida killings.  His statement about raising the age to 21 to be able to buy an assault weapon was designed to let the NRA and the gun lobby know he will support their position of no banning of assault weapons  What a cowardly position for a President.  For them, the next time we have a mass killing by someone 21 or older with an assault weapon, they will just turn their backs and come up with more excuses.

The President's inability to lead America in time of tragedy is a pitiful reminder the U.S does not have a President in the White House.  It has a individual trying to corrupt the country.

The U.S. Supreme Court Makes A Common Sense Decision and The NRA and The Gun Lobby Are Angry.

The U.S. Supreme Court refused to take up a appeal to a U.S. Court of Appeals that ruled California's mandatory 10 day waiting period for new gun purchases was constitutional.  The NRA and Gun Lobby took the Appeals Court decision to the Supreme Court saying it violated the second amendments right to bear arms.  The Supreme Court refusal to hear the case is a victory for the states and a common sense decision.

Any fare minded person can see through the smoke screen of the NRA and gun lobby appeal that the California law prevented the purchase of a firearm, it only applied to a reasonable waiting period so law enforcement could check out the purchaser's fitness to own a gun.  Any one who follows the NRA and gun lobby know they would do anything and say anything to put a large umbrella over the second amendment whether it applies or not.  It should also be a wake up call how conservatives hold such a liberal view of the second amendment which actually deals with the militia.

Hopefully, more states will enact gun laws that make sense and give the actions time to work.  Trump and the republicans reply to the recent Florida school shooting are all about dancing around the issue.  The most important issue now is to ban the sale of assault rifles that was in effect during the Clinton administration.  Bump stocks and other actions being talked about by Trump is just a side show to the real problem.  The Florida shooter did not need a bump stock nor does any assault style military rifle.

President Donald Trump: Putin's Puppet and Both Know It

A federal grand jury in connection with special council Robert Mueller's FBI investigation indicted 13Russians and three entities for meddling in the U.S. Presidential election in 2016.  And instead of condemning Russia and telling America what he will do about it, President Trump went on a tweeting spree over the week end, blamed and criticized former President Obama, the CIA, The FBI, his national security adviser and others.

This is the same President who said he believed Putin when Putin told him Russia was not involved and the same President whose people assured Putin that Obama's sanctions put in place would not be enforced.  Trump's inaction and failure to confront Putin and Russia on the issue represents a neglect of duty and a continuation of his betrayal of America, his office and the people.  There is no doubt that Putin is pulling Trump's puppet strings and Trump continues to be a traitor.

The trumpet man's desire to destroy America's institutions are ongoing to try and discredit the truth to promote his lies. Every thing about his administration has been a fraud from health care, to immigration reform, to tax reform, the WALL, the budget and his tweets.  Every day that goes by with Trump in the White House is a day of lies, scandal, dishonesty, schemes or some type of un-American rhetoric or actions.  And the only true answer is for congress to bite the bullet and impeach him.  This writer also stands by his previous thoughts that Putin has something of a serious nature on Trump and is one reason Russia and Putin get a pass from the trumpet man.

Understanding The Past Is Still The Key To A Better Future, And That Includes Mass Shootings And Killings

The United States has been in a dark era of deadly gun violence for some time now and as a result the present is like the failed dark past.  The latest example is the mass killings at a high school in Parkland, Florida just recently.  Innocent young students whose life was taken prematurely because we have a political system controlled by special interest groups who care little about life and a great deal about money.  And sadly, there are perceptions by certain voters who claim that guns don't kill people, people do.  That is the dogma the NRA, the gun lobby and many elected officials have been selling for years.

Florida is no stranger to mass murder and the killing of over 40 people at a night club in Orlando not long ago was tragic.  Florida's republican governor Rick Scott and republican U.S. Senator Marco Rubio were elected more than once by the people of Florida and have a A+ rating from the NRA which is no secret.  The NRA was also a big contributor to Trump's 2016 campaign and the people of Florida carried the state for him in the Presidential election of 2016.  Yesterday's internet was loaded with stories how the people of Florida are now demanding those three take up the gun control issue or be voted out.

President Kennedy said it was against the laws of nature for parents to bury their children and children were the first on his mind concerning going to war because they had no say in the matter.  That is why he did not rush America into war during the Cuban Missile crisis of 1962.  He was a President that had a respect for life and did not cater to special interest.  He came from a wealthy family but was a people's President.  But unlike that healthy past, today it is division, blame, personal attacks, fake news, a lack of compassion and a disrespectful attitude to American institutions and failed leadership on every front.

The number of people killed in the mass shootings in Las Vegas last year was a domestic record.  The families never forgot but our political system did.  And the political system's failure to deal with that realty repeated itself in Florida this past week.  Business who give campaign contributions to elected officials that oppose gun control should stand up and be counted and tell them no more contributions until they take up the issue and pass legislation to deal with the problem.

The present killings are a big time failure to understand the past and make the necessary changes for a better future for our children and our people.  We can not afford to take a stand only when it hits close to home.  Life for all should be protected and foremost in our work here on earth.  Its time for the failed rhetoric to end and break up the NRA and the gun lobby's political obstruction and interference on the issue.

Another Mass Shooting In An American School, A Place For Learning: And Another Reason Why The Assualt Weapons Ban Should Never Have Expired

A lone gunman with an assault style AR-15 semi-automatic rifle opened fire in a Parkland, Fla., high school killing 17 (mostly students) and wounded 14 others.  It was the most deadly school shooting in over five years.  The type of rifle used was banned by the Clinton administration for 10 years and the Bush 43 administration allowed the ban to die without renewal.  Such rifles should never be allowed on the streets of America.

The Clinton ban worked and our law enforcement community loved it.  The law, known as the Brady Bill was named after James Brady, President Reagan's press secretary who was severely wounded during the assassination attempt of President Reagan.  Reagan and President George H.W. Bush could never get such a law passed but Clinton did,  and he did not have the baggage drag of the NRA.  It was also the Clinton administration that put and paid for 100,000 new police officers in the streets for local police departments across our nation.  The Bush 43 administration also let that expire.  Clinton's actions on keeping America safe went a lot farther than his opponents rhetoric.

The reaction to the Florida shootings by Trump and those in congress controlled by the NRA and the gun lobby were the same as the record mass shooting and killings in Las Vegas last year.  "Condolence and Prayers" which does not solve the problem of assault style weapons of war that can do so much damage in a short period of time in the hands of civilians.  President Trump has fallen plenty short in rejecting violence and hate groups and is a divisive President who respects no one.  It would be a help when he goes to Florida next week to visit with the families of those parents who lost love ones in the shooting to announce that he is going to ask congress to once again pass an assault weapons ban bill with no sunset provisions.

That would be the least the President should do if he really rejects violence and hate.  The American people will find out soon enough just where he stands after another mass shooting on his watch.

Governor Edwards Calls Another Special Session Of The State Legislature.

Louisiana's governor Edwards is determined to make progress in bringing the state's budget and fiscal problems under control and called another special session of the legislature to do so.  The special session will run from Feb. 19 through March 7 to address a reported $994 million short fall for the next fiscal year which begins July 1.  The regular session of the legislature will start on March 12 and run through June 4.

Edwards understands the state can not solve its long term fiscal problems with budget cuts alone.  The state has been there and done that and it has not worked.  The republican controlled legislature has to end its foolishness and adopt sound fiscal answers to the problem their extreme attitude is responsible for.  The conservative rhetoric on the budget represents fake news and its time for them to start thinking of the state and its people's best interest.

The special session and regular session is plenty enough time for the republicans to come to their senses and work with Edwards and his recommendations on solving the long term budget and fiscal problems of the state that have gone on for to long.  The republicans time is up.

LABI and Laura Ingraham Deserve Each Other

And it all fell into place when LABI (Louisiana Association of Business and Industry) invited Ingraham to be their keynote speaker at their annual meeting last Thursday in Baton Rouge.  Ingraham is a conservative right wing radio and TV personality who appears regularly on the Fox News Network  That is the network who has the sexual harassment problem.   And true to form Ingraham was inflammatory in her comments.

One would think LABI, a business association would be above it all and invite a keynote speaker that would make the association and its business members proud with positive comments.  They knew very well of Ingraham's divisive political attitude and personal attacks and her alignment with the hate spread by Donald Trump.  The Times Picayune reported that a few hours after her speech, the association sent out a statement trying to disassociate itself from her remarks but it won't wash.   The association knew very well what Ingraham represented.

LABI has never been a good friend to the state or its people.  It is the largest business organization in Louisiana and its main theme is to continue the corporate welfare tax breaks its members receive from the state legislature.  It is also a conservative leaning organization who supported former governor Bobby Jindal's failed business policies and his failure to balance Louisiana's budget  And to top it off, Jindal left office with the Louisiana unemployment rate much higher than when he took office.  That probably did not matter to LABI.

LABI's invitation to Ingraham to be their keynote speaker tells one just how low this business organization was willing to stoop.  And that really says it all.

Another First For PolitiDose

This writer for the past 9 years has written commentary showing how precedent can be used to judge what administrations are best at governing concerning the economy, job creation, balancing the federal budget, creating surpluses, lower unemployment, lower deficit spending, keeping America safe, lower increases in the national debt, overall reduction in spending and precedent and facts tells us it is the democratic party.  But one never hears that from the republicans or the news media in general or the financial sector.

Now comes Mr. Sam Stovall, Chief Investment Strategist for the research firm CFRA who reports that every republican President since Teddy Roosevelt (yes you read that right) has experienced a recession in his first two years in office.  And that 9 of the past 10 recessions in history have begun with a republican in the White House and that republican Presidents Eisenhower, Nixon and George W. Bush have presided over multiple economic contractions.  Of course the readers of PolitiDose have known democratic administrations have managed the economy much better than republican administrations and over a long period of time and it was read right here first in PolitiDose long ago.

The news media and republicans have been able to convince a good share of voters that it is republican administrations that handle the economy best and facts don't seem to be the news medias interest on the subject matter.  They know the failures of Reagan and Bush's trickle down economics tax cuts but still pushed the Trump-GOP's recent tax cut scheme without real comments about the republican party's past sad record on the economy and tax cuts.

Mr. Stovall's comments are a little late but welcome and better late than never with the facts.  PolitiDose will continue to bring the facts to the people to balance the lack of good reporting by the news media in general, the fake news that comes out of the republican party and the financial industry.  And it should be worthwhile to repeat again in PolitiDose what Mr. Stovall failed to report that goes along with the republican party's sad record.  The three worst bank failures took place on the watch of Herbert Hoover, Ronald Reagan and George W. Bush.  And like the economic failures that took place on the republican watch alluded to by Mr. Stovall were not just a coincident.

Those who are willing to accept the facts will not be surprised if the country goes into another recession on Donald Trump's watch.

U. S. Senator Rand Paul: Another Republican Ditto Head Hypocrite.

The so called conservative who represents Kentucky held up the Senate budget vote this past Friday which shut the government down a few hours before he voted no on the bill.  His peeve was an increase in domestic spending without spending cuts.  He then went on a rhetoric rampage for TV criticizing both republicans and democrats because the budget bill added to the federal deficit and he said conservatives are against deficit spending.

The ditto head hypocrite failed to mention that Trump and the GOP's tax cut scheme that he himself voted for will add $1.5 trillion to deficit spending because the tax cut does not pay for itself with offsets.  And that $1.5 trillion in deficit spending he voted for is over 3 times larger than the short fall in the budget he opposed on Friday.  He then made the claim the federal government will be going back to the deficits of the Obama administration.  Actually Paul got that wrong also because deficit spending went down on Obama's watch year to year compared to the deficits of the Bush 43 administration which still holds the single year deficit record of $1.4 trillion which took place in Bush's last fiscal year.  By contrast, the federal deficit at the end of Obama's last fiscal year was $666 billion.  That is a big difference than what he inherited from Bush.

Of course the big kicker for Paul and the GOP is what this writer has said for years.  They really are not fiscal conservatives.  No republican President has balanced the federal budget since Eisenhower in 1960 and no republican President in the last 50 plus years has left office with a smaller deficit than when he took office.  But democratic Presidents have and Obama was the last to do so.  In other words there is no record of precedent in the past 50 years that can justify republicans as fiscal conservatives.

Fiscal conservative republicans?  The truth in fact is that they do not exist including Paul.   And Donald Trump who complains about the National Debt and deficit spending has already joined the republicans parade.

The Democratic Party Won The Latest Budget Battle In Congress For America and Its People

Make no mistake about it, the democratic party won the latest budget battle in congress early Friday morning when the U.S Senate voted and passed a two year budget 71-28 which was then passed by the U. S. House 240-186.  President Trump signed off on the legislation soon after passage.  The  democrats in both houses of congress supplied the votes necessary to pass the legislature.  It was a complete reversal of the previous republican senate bill which failed and shut down the government for 3 days.  It failed because it was a partisan republican bill that denied the democrats their priority and input and a debate on DACA.

But this time around the democrats were able to fund their priorities for the people and received assurance that DACA and immigration reform would be taken up next week with democratic debate and input.  The budget bill that passed was a long term 2 year budget that democrats demanded instead of operating the government with CR's as the republicans wanted to continue to do.  Increase funding for health care,  including the children's health care funding which was in jeopardy of expiring, Medicaid, infrastructure, victims of last years hurricanes and  fires which were never fully funded, FEMA, the military and other domestic needed programs were fully funded.  Prior to the bills passage Trump and the republicans in congress wanted to only increase defense spending and reduce domestic spending.  The bill that was passed was truly bi-partisan and a victory for the people because the democratic party in congress stood tall.

Just how huge was the democrats ability to have the senate agree to take up the debate on DACA and immigration reform starting next week?  Well lets test ones memory.  President George W. Bush wanted to take up immigration reform but his party refused to do so during his eight years in office.  The republicans controlled the U.S. House for 6 years under the Obama administration and refused to take up immigration reform.  It even allowed an immigration reform bill passed by the democratic controlled Senate in 2013 to expire with out even taken the bill up for debate.

And of course the U.S. Senate has been controlled by the republicans for the last 3 years and never took up immigration reform and not even in Trump's first year in office even though Trump and his party said it would be a priority  And to make the subject matter worse Trump, as of this writing has yet to send his own immigration reform plan to congress  That caused republican majority leader in the Senate Mitch McConnell to say two weeks ago he did not know what Trump's plan was.  So the democratic party pushed successfully to bring a public debate to the issue which will begin next week.  That is huge considering the republican party's rejection of such a debate for the past 17 years.  We will now find out if the republican party is ready to govern and be bi-partisan on this issue.

Trump immediately after signing the newly passed bill struck out against bi-partisanship.  He was mad because the democrats were able to increase domestic spending that went against his wishes of only increasing defense spending to record levels and his plan to slash domestic spending.  He urged the people to elect more republicans in the Nov. elections.  Trump, the autocrat, does not like bi-partisanship nor does he like democracy.  One can also look for Trump to do his best to undermine the coming immigration debate.

The trumpet man also used the bill to lash out against funding for the domestic programs by saying that it will swell the federal deficit.  Well, nothing will come close to swelling the federal deficit as much as Trump's tax scam for corporate America and the huge increase in defense spending.  The  lies just keep rolling out of Trump's mouth like water.  Unfortunately there are no TV hosts who are up to date on fiscal matters to correct the trumpet man.  But PolitiDose will because PolitiDose knows the facts.  Yes, the democratic party stood tall for the country and its people in this budget, make no mistake about it.  So stay tuned to PolitiDose, your daily dose of political commentary.

The Scandals Continue Unabated In The Trump White House

Thirteen months in office President Trump and members of his White House staff continue to created scandal after scandal.  This time it is the trumpet man's staff secretary Rob Porter who was forced to resign after months of alleged sexual abuse by two of his former wives.  The allegations were known for some time by Trump's team members, including Trump's special council according to reports.

Trump wished Porter well and that Porter denied the allegations.  However, both of Porter's previous wives came out in public with the details and with the FBI.  Abusing women is nothing new to the Trump White House as Trump himself said on tape, as a star he could do any thing he wanted with women and could even grab them by the you know what.  That came from the trumpet mans own mouth and thru his own lips.  And of course Trump has also been accused by 19 women of past sexual harassment.

Trump's moral corruption continues to change the White House as a place of honor made possible by previous administrations that understood what America's institutions are all  about.  So much damage to America and its political system in such a short period of time by a President who is only interested in his own ego.  One can be sure it will not be the last White House staff member who has to resign.  The atmosphere at the White House will never change as long as it is occupied by Donald Trump.

The Winter Olympics In South Korea: What Will It Portend, If Any Thing At All

The opening ceremony of the winter Olympics in South Korea is upon us and the world will be watching.  We know the leaders of both countries have already joined hands and will field teams in the competition.  Some teams will be a mixture of both the North and the South we are told and both countries leaders say the event is the vehicle to future dialog.

So what will the Olympics portend for the future of the Korean peninsula in terms of cooperation and a move toward better relations between the two countries.  Will North and South come to the conclusion that they themselves are capable of solving the problems that now exist without outside help.  What if they agree that the DMZ is no longer necessary after 65 years in operations and that the North and South agree on a peace treaty with enforcement that would lead to the first step to unify the two countries.

What if North Korea agrees to abandon their nuclear weapons if South Korea informs the United States all American military troops and bases have to leave that country.  Both the North and South have kept the armistice that has been in effect since 1953.  Both know a miscalculation could start a war neither one wants and would have the potential to be catastrophic to both.  South Korea's President is on record as saying he has a veto over the U.S. starting a war with the North.

The bottom line is that both North and South Korea have the ability to unite their countries and China, Russia and the United States would take a diplomatic beating because they themselves failed the test to be constructive concerning the Koreas for so long absent of any original thought.  So, will any of this take place with the North and South?  We do not know the answer, but some of those issues covered herein could actually take place.  The fate of North and South Korea would be best decided by its own people for a true and lasting peace.

It Was PolitiDose Who First Reported Trump's Traitorous Acts

Over a year and a half ago, PolitiDose in a commentary dated 7/31/16 titled, "A Traitor Among Us:  Donald Trump, Vladimir Putin and Russia" laid out the reasons why Donald Trump the republican Presidential candidate at the time was a traitor.  There were other commentary later concerning the subject matter and now after over a year in office, President Trump is still a traitor.  Websters New World Dictionary in this writers possession describes traitor as follows:  One who betrays; to hand over, betray;  a person who betrays his country, cause, friends, etc.

That is what candidate Trump and President Trump has done over and over again with not only lies but actions.  And his greatest betrayal of the country and it people now going on with his rhetoric to destroy the intelligence community the FBI and the special prosecutor in order to undermine a legal investigation of his own actions.  He has fired one FBI director because he would not drop his investigation of Trump's national security adviser Michael Flynn who has already pleaded guilty under the investigation.

The traitorous acts of this President continue almost on a daily basis and hit another new low after his State of the Union Address when he accused democrats of treason because they did not applaud his speech.  He betrayed congress because of his selfish desire for self adulation.  Trump's betrayal of all the positive things President Obama accomplished for the country and its people are staggering, that includes the Iran Nuclear agreement and Trump's rhetoric of Putin being a better leader than President Obama.

The traitorous acts of Trump will become worse as the special council begins his final push to bring the investigation to a conclusion.  It will be much worse than Watergate because the traitor in  the White House respects no one and especially lacks respect for American democracy, values and the basic rule of law.  The first clue to Trump's betrayal was his refusal to make public what every Presidential candidate has done, release his tax returns, a very simple matter, but Trump knew doing so would expose his lies of betrayal.

The era of President Donald Trump will come to an end and one can only hope and have faith that the voting public will realize that the future politics of the country should never again be like the present one.

The Stock Market

Forget all the reasons you have herd on TV and radio as to why the recent stock market sell off took place and set a record for the number of points lost in a single day.  All one has to understand is that there are three reasons why the stock market acts as it does.   (a)  Manipulation,  (b) five percent of the people own ninety percent of all stocks and bonds, and (c) the stock market always performs best on the democratic watch.

(a) and (b) above work together.  We know the money people can affect the market because a number of them have been convicted of doing so over the years.  Some have even served time in prison.  (b) are also the people who have the finances to create a sell off or start a buying spree.  And both can actually take place when the economy is stable.  It happened in yesterdays sell off.  Because when there is a seller, there has to be a buyer.

And (c) is a fact of record the stock market has its best years under democratic administrations and its worse under republican administrations.  Democratic policies have a more positive influence on the stock market over the long run because economic conditions are better for the general public overall.  All the stock market pundits on TV were wrong about the stock market during the Reagan and Bush 43 years and were dead wrong about the Clinton and Obama years that left Reagan and Bush in the dust.  And when it is all over, they will be wrong about the Trump years.

It is short or remarkable how so many TV commentators knew so little about the stock market and the fiscal conditions of the states and federal government.  Their analysis does not even come close to reality.  They remind this writer of sports writers and their hype and clichĂ©s.  It was a comedy to listen to the various reasons given by TV commentators to Mondays 1100 point loss.  And the local New Orleans TV news channels were the worst.

The ups and downs of the stock market are nothing new and will continue.  Trump has tried to take credit for the stock market advances the past year and was silent as a jail bird at yesterday's sell off.  It demonstrates how this President is willing to pass fake news about the stock market to the people instead of establishing a sound economic policy.  What a shame.

Louisiana's Republican Controlled State Legislature: Still Has No Answeer To Balancing The State Budget

Eight years of budget cuts under the Jindal administration never balanced one state budget.  Now, as Louisiana's fiscal year comes to an end on June 30, governor John Bel Edwards and the legislature are locked in another battle of how best to finally put Louisiana's fiscal house in order for the states next fiscal year and beyond.  The republicans in the state legislature are still offering the same failed conservative rhetoric, cut spending.  Edwards, a democrat, feels what the state needs are more revenue, reform the tax code where everyone pays his fair share and spending cuts where needed.

The elephant to a sound fiscal policy for today and the future is the $8 billion of tax give away each year to special interest groups, mainly businesses.  That is about 25% of the state budget that is given away without justification.  No government or business can afford to lose that amount of revenue every year.  The temporary tax increase passed by the legislature during Edward's first year is set to expire June 30 and revenue has to be found to replace that short fall.

It is past time for the republican controlled state legislature to bite the bullet and work with Edwards on his priorities to not only balance the state budget in an honest way but to make it a long term solution to the states fiscal problems.  Unemployment in Louisiana has dropped on Edwards watch since he took office and the economic outlook is much brighter for the state.  Just the opposite took place on Jindal's watch.

So now we see in just the last few weeks how state republicans are beginning to team with republicans in congress that represent Louisiana to oppose Edwards agenda for the next fiscal year.  It is the same cast that engineered Louisiana's fiscal crisis to begin with.  The conservative ideology of the republican party is anti-people first and foremost.  This writer believes Edward's policies will prevail for the benefit of the state and its people.  After all, the people of Louisiana have Governor Edwards, while the republicans have the most unstable President in American history.  And when you couple that to the fake news of the republican party, it spells disaster.

The Democratic Party: Still The Best Hope For The People, For America and For Democracy Itself

The democratic party is alive and well despite Trump and the GOP's propaganda of failure.  The steady hand of the democratic party and its policies have always been a positive influence on our democratic institutions in time of need even when republicans control the government.  Democracy is not always a smooth ride because ideology has been adopted to divide and conquer by conservatives and because democracy itself is always in a state of change.

But the roots of democracy runs deep and over time the extreme is rejected for the basic tenant we call progress.  Trump and the GOP have little to show in running the country the past year because they have excluded the democratic party from the debates in congress on the issues.  However, in the long run it will be democratic votes that decide the issues of immigration, health care, medicare, social security, national security and the fiscal health of the federal government.

It was the democratic party that turned the economy around and created jobs with falling unemployment, reduced deficit spending and reduced federal spending at the same time.  Republicans have a history of reversing that success and Trump and the GOP will continue on that path.  The key to democracy is to understand the mistakes of the past so that the future will not look like the failed past.

Democratic administrations always understood that and that is why democracy has always progressed on their watch.

The State of The Union Address Was A Reminder That An Unstable President Still Occupys The White House

The trumpet man has begun his second year in office and is still so unstable, believes he has to continue to lie to the nation and his base to satisfy his ego and mental state of mind.  And this time the lie was over a issue that matters not one flip.  Trump said his State of the Union address was watched by the highest number of people in history, 45.6 million viewers.

Neilson, which does the TV ratings says not so.  That the State of the Union address of President Bush in 2002, President Obama in 2010 and President Clintons in 1994 were higher at 51.7 million, 48 million and 46.8 million.  It was not the first time trump has lied about TV coverage of his Presidential events and one can be sure it will not be his last lie.  Trump's mental instability continue to take a toll on the highest office in the land and America's institutions, especially the intelligence community, the FBI the judicial system and congress.

And now we are witnessing a full court press by the trumpet man and the GOP to derail the special prosecutors investigation of Trump and others involvement with Russia and the obstruction of justice.  The desire to kill American's democratic process has been unprecedented by Trump and the GOP.  Make no mistake, Trump and his party in congress are following an un-American assault against every thing good about the country and its people.

Impeachment is the only answer to the unstable and corrupt trumpet man.  And the special prosecutor is getting closer every day for the axe to drop.

January Job Numbers and Unemployment

The U.S. Labor Department reported the economy created 200,000 new jobs in January and that the unemployment rate was unchanged at 4.1%.  It was the 88th straight month of positive job growth as the economy continues its upward trend.  Median family income was up for 2017 which began its climb in 2013.  The increase in the minimum wage by 20 plus states and many business was responsible for part of the increase.

In January of 2017, President Obama's last month in office the economy created 227,000 new jobs and the unemployment rate stood at 4.8%.  It was 7.8% when Obama took office in January 2009.  So unemployment decreased 3% during President Obama's eight years in office.  Unemployment decreased 3.1% during Clinton's two terms and decreased 3.2% during the Kennedy-Johnson two terms.  Unemployment decreased the most under those three democratic administrations than any other administration in the last 67 years.

So what can the people look for economically this year and in the future.  Trump's treasury secretary gave us a hint the other day when he stated the administration would ask congress to increase the governments debt ceiling earlier than planned because the recently passed tax cuts are reducing federal revenues and the debt limit will be exceeded earlier than projected.  Also keep in mind no matter the fake news coming out of the administration, Trump and the GOP did not pass one piece of legislation last year that can be considered progressive for the economy.
