The U.S. Economy, Job Creation and the Unemployment Rate for September 2026.

The U.S. Labor Department announced the economy added just 29,000 jobs in September and the unemployment rate came in at 4.2%, up from last month's 4.1%.  The Department also adjusted down August job numbers from 162,000 jobs to 133,000 jobs.  Also, July lost 10,000 jobs instead of gaining 21,000 jobs as reported.

During the same period under President Biden in September 2022 the economy created 269,000 jobs and the unemployment rate was 3.5%.  The comparison continues to show how after 21 months in office during his second term, Trump's job creation continues to be weak and unemployment is higher than it was when Biden was in office.

Trump's first fiscal year ended 9/30/26 and the final official numbers should be released in the next 60 days.  When it is released, PolitiDose commentary will compare it to Biden's first fiscal year and see what the official numbers show.  So, stay tuned to PolitiDose for your daily dose of political commentary and discover the true facts because the media is AWOL when it comes to reporting on the economy.
